A driver is a piece of software that allows the operating system to communicate with the hardware devices in your system. Devices such as video cards, sound cards, and modems all require drivers to function correctly.
Things to Know and Do Before You Install the Driver

- Don’t turn off your laptop while installing the driver.
- Laptop will turn off automatically after updating is complete.
- Sony® Vaio® Computers are made for Windows Vista® operating system. Due to popular demand they offer some drivers for Microsoft® Windows® XP® OS users. Please check if your BIOS is available for your model and OS at http://esupport.sony.com/ before you install our driver on a Microsoft® Windows® XP® OS.
- Sony® may have provided you with a copy of a BIOS driver when you originally purchased your laptop.

- The SO-22 drivers were updated on 11/23/2009. All new SO-22 batteries received after 11/1/2009 should respond to the new drivers. If you received our battery prior to 11/1/2009 and the driver does not work then please request an exchange by clicking here.

How To Download and Install a Driver
- Select the driver for your laptop battery model (See below)
- Save the driver on your laptop. (Use an easy location such as My Documents or Desktop.)
- Shut down your computer and then remove the battery.
- Use your adapter to turn on the laptop.
- Double the “*.exe” file to install the driver that was saved on your computer.
- Click “agree”, and then click “run”.
- The laptop will shut down automatically when the installation is complete.
- Insert your replacement battery then Restart your laptop, your battery will now work with your laptop.
How To Install The Driver from a CD-Rom
- Shut down your computer and then remove the battery.
- Use your adapter to turn on the laptop.
- Insert the CD-Rom into your laptop, go to Step 7, if your laptop has the “AutoRun” or “AutoPlay” function.
- Double click on “my computer” and go to Step 5, if your laptop does not have the “AutoRun” or “AutoPlay” function.
- Double click on the CD Drive device to run the driver. If it does not start then go to Step 6.
- Double click on the “*.exe” file to run the driver.
- Click “agree”, and then click “run”.
- The laptop will shut down automatically when the installation is complete.
- Insert your replacement battery then Restart your laptop, your battery will now work with your laptop.
